What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup, also known as Intradermal Pigmentation, is a revolutionary method of applying natural pigments into the dermal layer of skin. This state-of-the-art technique is medically proven and specifically designed to be completely safe.

Permanent makeup is used for a variety of cosmetic enhancements such as permanent eyebrows, eye liner, and lip liner/color. Other permanent makeup procedures include vitiligo, scar camouflage, areola restoration, hairline enhancement, and more. Permanent makeup has also been used to cover-up stretchmarks, birthmarks, freckles/age spots, and uneven skin discolorations.

Lip Liner/Color

The Intradermal Pigmentation procedure for lip color is beautiful. It can appear to change the size and shape of the lips as well as the color. This procedure helps prevent lipstick from bleeding into the surrounding skin. Many people request a soft pink, similar to the lip color to that of an infant, for those who want a natural look. Others may desire a dramatic effect.

The Intradermal Pigmentation procedure for eyebrows can mimic the appearance of hair in the brow line. Anyone who desires more fullness of the brows will love the procedure (and the time saved not applying makeup!) Those who used to apply pencil can go swimming, play tennis, or wipe their forehead without the embarrassment of losing their eyebrows. Those suffering from alopecia (hair loss) are pleasantly surprised at how natural it looks.

Eyeliner/ Eyelash Enhancement

A subtle, natural look, mimicking thousands of tiny eyelashes with the implantation of pigments in the lash line is popular with both male and female clients. Additional shadowing of color can be added for a soft natural liner or a more bold, definite line can be achieved. Ophthalmologists recommend Intradermal Cosmetic procedures for those who are allergic to conventional makeup and for those wearing contact lenses.

Questions & Answers

Is it really permanent?

The color will fade some over time.  Typically full color lasts 1-5 years, in some cases much longer, however there are factors that effect this.  Ultraviolet exposure from the sun or tanning beds, smoking, some medications, and excessively dry skin can decrease the life span of the pigment.  Wearing sunglasses will protect your eyeliner.  I recommend that you wear sunblock or lip gloss with SPF on your eyebrows and lips to protect the pigment.  I offer touch-up applications at a reduced cost if your pigment does fade over time.

What if I want to change my makeup?

I work with your natural facial features to enhance them to their fullest. This natural look allows you to apply normal cosmetics over your "Permanent Makeup" for color variety. Therefore, without any applied makeup, you are always naturally enhanced.

Is the procedure safe?

I follows strict hygiene and sterilization procedures that conform to Dept Of Health guidelines.  All materials are disposed of properly and never reused.

Is the procedure painful?

A topical anesthetic is applied prior to and during every application. This numbs the epidermis and the pain is minimized. The digital device machine is the newest technique used in the application of permanent makeup. This equipment is quieter which creates a more soothing environment. Smaller needles an a different angle minimize the discomfort.

How long does the procedure take?

Procedures usually take between 1-2 hours, depending on what you have chosen to have done.

What colors should I choose?

There is a right color for everyone.  I take into consideration your natural skin color, hair color and eye color.  A soft, natural color is always preferred.  I will help you choose the proper color.

How long is the recovery period?

There will be slight swelling and redness in the skin which will subside quickly. You may resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. Complete healing takes one to six weeks while the pigmentation matures and reaches its final color.

Will I need a touch-up?

For the first week or so the intensity of your Permanent Makeup will be much stronger than the final color, up to 50% more intense. During the healing process, 20%-40% of the color will be lost.

Is it expensive?

It is comparable to what most women spend on hair styling, hair color, "perms" and normal maintenance. Considering that "Permanent Makeup" lasts for years before a "touch up" is needed, it is relatively inexpensive.
